For water and oil processing with threaded connections, select an L-type sanitary butterfly valve for flow diversion, or a TT-type configuration for flow mixing. L-type directs flow from one inlet to either outlet at 90° and provides complete shut-off. TT-type enables interconnection among all three ports for combining or splitting flow. Available in 1" to 4" with SS304/SS316L, EPDM/silicone/NBR seals, and threaded connections for 0-10 bar at -20°C to 120°C.

L-Type Configuration: Flow Diversion

The L-type valve features a flow path connecting the common port to one of two outlets at a time. Rotating the handle changes the flow path between ports. This diverts product between processing lines or alternates between fill stations. The closed position provides complete shut-off, allowing isolation of connected equipment for cleaning or maintenance.

L-type flow paths:

  • Common inlet to outlet 1 (position 1)

  • Common inlet to outlet 2 (position 2)

  • Complete shut-off in third position

For the tri clamp valve, L-type designs are available with threaded connections. The sanitary butterfly valve with L-port is specified when flow requires direction change without mixing.

TT-Type Configuration: Flow Mixing and Merging

The TT-type valve connects any two or all three ports simultaneously. This enables mixing of two incoming streams into one outlet or splitting one inlet into two outlets. Unlike L-type, TT-type valves cannot provide complete shut-off in a single position. The TT-type configuration suits applications requiring product blending, such as combining different batches or merging multiple supply lines.

TT-type flow patterns:

  • Mixing: Two inlets → one common outlet

  • Diverting: One inlet → two outlets

  • Full opening: All three ports interconnected

The 3 tri clamp butterfly valve with TT-type is selected when blending or combining product streams is required.
