An angle seat valve uses a pneumatic piston, stem, plug, and seat to control process flow. Its 90-degree body provides a compact layout, while NC, NO, and double-acting versions suit different operating needs. Published models cover DN15–DN100, with nominal pressure of 1.0–1.6 MPa and several connection options.

Angle Seat Valve Structure

The body places the inlet and outlet at about 90 degrees. Compressed air moves the piston, the stem transfers this force, and the plug opens or closes the seat.

The main components are:

  1. Stainless-steel valve body
  2. Pneumatic piston actuator
  3. Stem and plug
  4. PTFE or F46 seals
  5. Thread, flange, clamp, or weld connection

This structure provides direct linear movement and keeps the actuator outside the process passage.

How Does an Angle Seat Valve Operate?

When air enters the actuator, piston movement drives the stem and lifts the plug from the seat. When the closing force is applied, the plug returns to the sealing surface.

An angle seat piston valve can use three operating modes:

  • NC: Spring closes the valve without air.
  • NO: Spring opens the valve without air.
  • Double acting: Air controls opening and closing.

The selected mode determines the fail position and actuator behavior.

Flow Direction and Pressure

Flow direction changes the force acting on the plug. Flow under the seat can reduce water hammer during opening, while flow over the seat can support higher working pressure.

The correct direction should be matched with process pressure, medium behavior, and required closing response.

Pneumatic Actuator Design

An angle seat valve pneumatron system uses compressed air to produce linear valve movement. Published configurations include stainless-steel and polyamide actuator cylinders, with options such as limit switches, positioners, solenoid valves, and pressure regulators.

Actuator sizing depends on air pressure, spring force, piston size, and process pressure. These factors affect switching performance and pressure capability.

Materials and Sealing

Published designs use 304, 316, or 316L stainless steel for the body and spool. PTFE and F46 are listed sealing materials, with temperature ranges depending on the selected seal.

Material selection should match the process medium, cleaning conditions, pressure, and operating temperature.

What Affects Angle Seat Valve Price?

Angle seat valve price varies with size, material grade, actuator type, seal material, connection, and pneumatic accessories. Larger sizes, 316L construction, special seals, and feedback components can change the final cost.

An angle seat control valve and an angle seat check valve should not be compared as identical products because their operating principles differ. An angle seat globe valve is also a separate design with different internal flow characteristics.

When evaluating an angle seat valve, the following points should be checked together:

  • Body and spool material
  • Seal material and temperature range
  • Nominal size and pressure
  • Flow direction
  • NC, NO, or double-acting control
  • Connection type
  • Pneumatic actuator requirements
  • Process medium

These specifications provide a more reliable basis for product comparison than price or nominal size alone.
