J&O Static balancing valves (also known as manual balancing valves or digitally locked balancing valves) are key regulating valves used in HVAC and water circulation systems to achieve hydraulic balance. Their core working principle and applicable conditions are as follows:

Working Principle:

A static balancing valve is essentially a throttling element with precisely adjustable and lockable resistance. Its working principle mainly involves the following three steps:

  1. Resistance Adjustment for Flow: By manually rotating the valve handle, the gap between the valve core and the valve seat (i.e., the valve opening) is changed. The change in opening directly alters the local resistance of the fluid flowing through the valve, thus precisely controlling the flow rate through that pipe section.
  2. Dedicated Instrument-Assisted Commissioning: The valve is typically equipped with a pressure-measuring valve (test interface). During system commissioning, technicians use dedicated intelligent instruments connected to these interfaces to measure the pressure difference before and after the valve, and, combined with the valve opening, directly calculate the current actual flow rate.
  3. Locking the Opening to Maintain Balance: Once the flow rate is adjusted to the design requirement, the valve opening is fixed by a digital locking device. As long as the total system flow rate does not change drastically, the flow ratio of each branch pipe will remain constant, thus eliminating the hydraulic imbalance phenomenon of "higher flow at the near end and lower flow at the far end" in the system.

Static balancing valves are primarily suitable for initial hydraulic balancing commissioning of constant flow systems or variable flow systems with minimal load variations. Common specific applications include:

  • Data Center Pipe Line Liquid Cooling System
  • Building Air Conditioning and Heating Networks: In large buildings, installed on main pipes, risers, and horizontal branch pipes to address uneven heating/cooling in different rooms or areas, ensuring flow distribution according to design proportions.
  • Community Heating Networks: In systems supplying heat from a single heat source to multiple buildings, installed on each main and branch pipe to eliminate residual pressure heads caused by varying distances from the heat source, preventing "overheating at the near end and undercooling at the far end."
  • Heating Stations: Installed on the primary and secondary loops of heating stations to ensure each loop receives the designed flow rate.
  • Parallel Equipment Groups: When multiple boilers, chillers, or cooling towers are installed in parallel, static balancing valves are installed at the inlet of each device to ensure each unit reaches its design flow rate and operates safely at its high-efficiency point.
